Master Boot Record repair kitfor Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 and XPInstallation ReadmeUse the following information to update the Master Boot Record (MBR)of your hard disk drive when your system cannot boot into Windowsafter installing or upgrading the Rescue and Recovery (RnR) program.Installing or upgrading the Rescue and Recovery application willupdate the master boot record. During the next boot, the SafeGuardEasy application might report that the MBR has changed and promptthe user to either allow the change or undo the change. Users shouldallow the change. If these changes are not applied, the computer mightnot be able to successfully boot into Windows.Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation.Downloading the update----------------------1. Click either the repairmbr.iso or repairmbr.exe file link todownload the file from the Web page.2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to savethe downloaded file. Be sure to select a path that does nothave a space in its name.Extracting the update---------------------1. Insert a blank CD or 1.44MB floppy diskette into the CD driveor diskette drive.2. Locate the file you just downloaded.3. To create a CD version repair kit, select a CD burning tooland create the repair kit from the repairmbr.iso file.4. To create a diskette version repair kit, double-click therepairmbr.exe icon and follow the onscreen prompts. The necessaryfiles will be extracted to the diskette.Installing the update---------------------1. Close all open applications.2. Insert the floppy diskette or CD into the appropriate drive;restart the computer and make sure your system will boot fromthe Diskette or CD drive.3. When the update starts, follow all onscreen prompts.4.
